Branding Strategies and Exercises to Define and Build a Strong Brand Identity

The best way to workshop your brand identity into a clear message.

  1. Define Your Brand Adjectives

What three words would you use to define your company.

Engineer each part of your business to sit within these three terms so that every touch-point is consistent with this message. This includes packaging, pricing, experience, design, wording etc…

  2. Define The Adjectives you DON’T want to be associated with

What three words would you not want associated with your company.

Remember, You don’t have to be the brand EVERYBODY loves.

  3. Attribute Spectrum - Where does your brand site in the spectrum between 2 words

For example: Luxury —-and—- Necessity, Expensive —-and—- Affordable, Serious —-and—- playful, Modern —-and—- Classic, Quiet —-and—- Loud, complex —-and—- simple, refined —-and—- raw.

These concepts may seem a bit vague, but working through it on paper will help to clarify some of the soft boundaries around a brand.

  4. Brand Comparisons

Comparing your brand to well known brands in another industry.
E.g. If your brand was a car, what car would it be? If your brand was a hotel, what hotel would it be? If your brand was a store what would It be?

Aligning all the little touchpoint with the brand is what creates a powerful feeling.
